Has NYSC Cancelled Davido’s One-Year Service For Violating Its Bye-Laws?
It appears like the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has wielded its mighty rod on multi award-winning singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido; thereby, cancelling the compulsory one-year orientation exercise embarked upon by the singer.
The ‘Fall’ crooner confirmed this on Instagram after popular entertainment promoter, Adesegun Adeosun, better known as King Smade, who just finished his three-week NYSC orientation program, was given a commendation for outstanding performance by the service.

Reacting to the post made by Smade, Davido wrote “Naso dem cancel my own”.
To further confirm this, The Punch quoted the NYSC as saying it has communicated with the singer over his activities during his service year.
The NYSC Director of Information, Adenike Adeyemi, however, did not say what punishment had been meted out to Davido who has broken several NYSC bye-laws.
It is believed that the singer has violated many of the scheme’s regulations.
Some bye-laws violated by Davido include bringing vehicles into the orientation camp; disclosing official information; engaging in private practice; taking part in partisan politics; reporting late to duty among others.
It should be noted that the NYSC law not only prohibited participation in partisan politics but said corps members should not leave their place of primary assignments without the permission of their state coordinators.
“Any member who takes part in partisan politics is liable to extension of service for a period not less than three months without pay,” Section 9 under the Miscellaneous Offences and Penalties, read.
On Thursday, August 30, the superstar singer was among the 2,152 Batch “B”, Stream 2 corps members sworn-in at the Lagos State NYSC Orientation Camp, Ipaja and his presence surely caused pandemonium.
Barely 24 hours later, Davido left the mandatory three-week orientation exercise and travelled to Boston, USA for his tour – a deed that naturally wont go down well with the Scheme if it was an average Nigerian.
While his colleagues were struggling to cope with the various yet difficult training sessions in camp, OBO was busy thrilling fans in the United States.
He was also the star attraction during Adeleke’s rally, leaving his trail in every parts of the state, and subsequently pictured donning a PDP regalia.
As of press time, it remains to be seen if the NYSC has sanctioned the singer or not since he later deleted the comment from the post made to Smade.
